JaNiyah is an outgoing, honest, carefree, and compassionate 13-year-old child. She is a typical teenager who enjoys hanging out with her friends, playing sports, staying up late and going on outings. Janiyah is not a “girly girl” and enjoys playing sports, roughhousing with the boys, and doing new things. Janiyah is a very vocal child who knows what she wants and can advocate for herself. Ja’Niyah enjoys listening to music, dancing (Tik Tok dances) and journaling. Janiyah has very few dislikes but has reported that she does not like eggs or being bored. She will often say that she doesn’t like “annoying people” either. Janiyah is very funny and enjoys smiling and making others laugh. It is apparent that Janiyah’s cohorts are drawn to her generous and humorous personality. Janiyah often feels the need to defend herself and the people she cares about. Janiyah has been through a lot in her young life, including being parentified as a young child. Due to this, Janiyah acts older than her age. Although Janiyah currently denies any type of therapy, it will be important that when she is ready, she receive adoption competent and trauma therapy to address her past. It is important that Janiyah is involved in her case, is up to date on information and can participate in meetings, court hearings, and any other staffings that she has the ability to participate in. Janiyah does struggle to allow others to speak without interrupting and getting upset with what is said. It is important to remind Janiyah to allow others to speak and that everyone has their own opinions and facts.
