Jataria is an African-American twelve-year-old girl, who currently has long black and green braids. She is in the sixth grade and enjoys going to school. She is quiet at first, but once she gets to know someone she is friendly and talkative. Jataria makes friends somewhat easily, and she has several friends at her new school. Her favorite subjects are math and science, and her least favorite subject is math (Jataria has a love-hate relationship with math). She likes her teachers but said her favorite part of school is when they get time to play outside. She wears a uniform for school, but she expresses herself through her hair, shoes, and jewelry. Jataria always wears multiple silver rings and handmade bracelets that she makes with a loom kit. She also sells the bracelets at school sometimes. Besides being outside, Jataria enjoys swimming, movies, reading, and playing on her tablet, as well as artistic activities such as puzzles, coloring, and painting. She has expressed wanting to be a chef when she gets older.
Jataria has an older brother and an older sister, and it is important for anyone that adopts Jataria be open to her maintaining contact with her siblings. Jataria would do well in a home where she can receive the one-on-one attention that she needs to grow into a confident, successful young lady.
