Meet De’Andre & Sa’Niya
De’Andre is a smart 12-year-old African American Male. He is quite tall for his age, and because of that his nickname is “Big Man”. De’Andre has black hair and brown eyes. When first meeting De’Andre, he is more on the quiet and reserved side, but he is as sweet as can be. When he grows up, he wants to be a Police Officer. Things that De’Andre enjoys doing include drawing, playing basketball, fishing, playing outside, and playing games on his phone. He loves dinosaurs and the color light blue. His favorite subjects in school are Math and Reading. During the previous school year De’Andre was on the A/B Honor Roll, and recently received Kiwanis Kid of the Month. De’Andre’s favorite food is cheeseburgers and cheese fries. Some of the activities that De’Andre would love to be able to do is going to the skating rink, bowling, and playing at the beach. The chores that De’Andre is responsible for currently are making his bed, maintaining a clean room, taking out the trash, feeding the dog, cleaning up, and mowing the lawn. His least favorite chore is mowing the lawn. When asking De’Andre if he could go on any vacation of his choice, he stated he would like to go on a cruise and visit Disneyland, as he enjoys riding roller coasters.
Sa’Niya is a beautiful and brilliant 9-year-old African American girl with black hair and brown eyes. She likes to be called Niya or “Sis”. She is considered a girly-girl who loves to wear makeup and have her hair done. Sa’niya is outgoing, open, and makes friends easily. She is able to express herself very well and is able to understand her emotions. When she grows up, she would like to work at Walmart or any type of food place. She also states that she enjoys babysitting and would love to be able to babysit when she is old enough. Her two favorite subjects in school are Math and Reading; she loves books of all kinds. She enjoys being outdoors and gardening. Some of her favorite colors include gold, blue, green, pink, white and black. She would love to be able to stay enrolled in gymnastics. She loves dancing and states that she knows all the TikTok dances. She loves kittens and hopes one day to be able to have one herself. One of her biggest fears is snakes. Her favorite foods include ribs, chicken, pork chops, and salad. Chores that are required of her currently are making her bed, cleaning up the living room, and taking turns with other household members cleaning the kitchen. She would like to have a family that lets her friends come over, have sleepovers, and be able to have parties.
When talking with both children, their Adoption Specialist asked them if they were able to pick the perfect family what that would look like to them. They both would like a mom and dad, along with siblings of any age. They would love to be able to continue going to church on Wednesdays and Sundays. They would like to be able to keep in contact with their biological family (including siblings) through in-person visits and via virtual visits. They would love a family who like to spend time together often and have movie and game nights; they both stated they have always wanted a game room. They love spending time together as a family during the Holidays, stating that they celebrate all of them. Things that they would like to have in a new home are a basketball hoop, a pool, and a trampoline.
